COLLECTION PREVIEW
Lumen campaign
Lumen campaign video directed and edited by Pearly Tan
Experimenting with light and drapes, material dyeing, painting, and printing samples open up infinite possibilities for my interpretation of light. The contrast of shiny and matte texture and the wiggly edges of light shadows comprise the critical design development process.
INSPIRATION
Capturing life's ephemeral essence
The design journey begins with photography, a way to explore and hold onto life's precious moments. Light moves through my images, creating shapes that pull me deeper into its world. Everyday objects transform under this light, becoming something new and exciting and revealing the hidden wonder that exists all around us.
2D & 3D CONCEPT EXPERIMENTS
Fabric as light's canvas
Exploring the Tyndall effect, where light scatters through suspended particles, I transform fabric into a storytelling medium.
Fabric becomes more than a material; it's a landscape of illumination, capturing the ephemeral dance of light through suspended moments.
Concept sketches & fabric manipulation
From freehand sketches, I developed three-dimensional designs. Exploring varying seams and patterns, I transformed flat concepts into living shapes, turning fabric into a canvas of creativity.
Shape study on paper & golden foil
By tracing the silhouettes of light and shadow, I explored shape studies across different materials. Delicate foil can best capture the fluid edges of shadows and light reflections.

DIGITAL PRINT DESIGN
Reimagine lights
Painting, gradient dyeing, and digital print, I designed using different techniques to portray the colors and forms of light.

COLLECTION LINE-UP
Finalizing designs with fabrication
Considering production feasibility, I selected designs that could seamlessly translate from concept to fabric, understanding that turning creative visions into wearable garments requires both imagination and technical precision.
PROTOTYPE
Refining designs through model fittings
Evaluating movement, proportion, and comfort on living bodies is a big part when transforming drawings to clothings. Through these model fitting sessions, I made adjustments accordingly that honor both my aesthetic vision and the wearer's needs.
DESIGN SPECIFICATION
From conceptual to technical
These detailed technical drawings paired with fabric swatches are to ensure precision in construction while communicating my design intent clearly to pattern makers and production teams.
